Apple Strudel

Dough:

  • 300 g flour (for stretched dough)

  • 200 ml lukewarm water

  • 2 tablespoons oil

  • 1 tablespoon vinegar

  • 1 small teaspoon salt

Filling:

  • 1 kg sour apples

  • 100 g sugar

  • 100 g butter

  • 1 packet vanilla sugar

  • ground cinnamon

  • powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions:
Knead a smooth dough from the flour, oil, vinegar, salt, and lukewarm water. Divide the dough into two equal parts. Cover and let rest for about one hour.

For the filling, peel and core the apples, grate them, and mix with sugar, vanilla sugar, and cinnamon.

After resting, stretch the dough on a cloth-covered table (do not knead again) until it is paper-thin. Drizzle melted butter over the surface. Spread half of the apple filling over half of the dough and roll it up into a strudel. Repeat the same process with the second piece of dough.

Place the prepared strudels in a greased baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for 40 minutes. Dust the hot strudels with powdered sugar.

Let them cool slightly, slice, and serve.
