Ogulin is once again offering a rich Advent program this year, filled with various events for all generations. The official opening will take place on Saturday, November 30, with cultural and music activities that will bring warmth and festive joy to this town at the foot of Klek, running until December 24, 2024.

Danijela Martinović – Special Guest of the Advent Evening
The program on the first day of Advent includes a literary event with the renowned singer and author Danijela Martinović at 4:30 PM, where she will present her autobiographical prose “Showering the Soul” in the Great Hall of the Ogulin City Library and Reading Room.

In the evening, Ogulin residents will have the chance to enjoy her concert, which will start at 8:00 PM in King Tomislav Park, where Danijela will enrich the magical Advent atmosphere with her musical performances.

Symbolic Lighting of the Advent Candle
At 7:00 PM on the same day, the first Advent candle will be lit, accompanied by a performance from the Croatian Singing Society “Klek” at the same location. This moment traditionally marks the beginning of the Advent season and the preparation for Christmas, bringing together families and the community.

Special Advent Activities for Children
Advent in Ogulin is also special because it gives great attention to the youngest. From December 2 to 6, all first-grade students will have the opportunity to participate in a special tour of Ivanina Kuća Bajke (Ivana’s Fairy Tale House) with a professional guide. This is an opportunity for the little ones to learn about fairy tales and the tradition of Ogulin, the town of fairy tales.

Additionally, on several days (December 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6), the Children’s Department of the library will host the Advent Calendar of Surprise Stories, with organized readings of Advent picture books that will introduce children to the Christmas spirit.

Play and Workshops for Parents
On Saint Nicholas’ Day, December 6, at 5:00 PM, the Ivica Cindrić – Piva Sports Hall will host the performance “Saint Nicholas’ Surprise”, which will delight children and their families.

For parents, at 6:00 PM the same day, an educational workshop titled “Support from the Start” will be held in the Small Hall, focusing on supporting and educating parents in raising the youngest children.

Christmas Story for You
From November 30 to December 24, visitors will be able to pick up a special Christmas story at the informational desk of the library, which they can read at any time. This is a great way to enjoy the holidays through literature.

New Year’s Program
The New Year’s program will be announced separately on the official website of the Ogulin Tourist Board and will cover the period from Christmas to the Mountain New Year (January 7, 2025).
