39th Karlovac Beer Days: Tradition, Great Beer and Severina at the Grand Opening

The last weekend of August traditionally belongs to Karlovac Beer Days. From 28 August to 1 September, Karlovac once again becomes the centre of the beer world thanks to Croatia’s longest-running beer festival – Karlovac Beer Days, which is being held for the 39th time this year. Five days of concerts, outstanding beer and gastronomy, entertainment, and a unique festival atmosphere that has attracted tens of thousands of visitors from across Croatia and abroad for nearly four decades will once again confirm why the end of summer always leads to Karlovac.

This year’s edition takes place in the very heart of the city, within the historic Star (Zvijezda) district, where visitors will be welcomed by two festival stages. The first day of the festival features the official opening ceremony, followed by a concert by Severina. The Gastro Stage will be headlined on opening night by another music star – Minea, marking the beginning of five days filled with top-quality music, beer, gastronomy and a variety of festival experiences. The Main Stage will host performances by some of the region’s most popular artists, including Petar Grašo, Hiljson, Baks, Jonathan, Indira and Klapa Šufit.

Karlovac Beer Days represent a unique blend of brewing tradition, culture, gastronomy and tourism, inviting everyone to spend time in the City of Encounters. During the festival, Karlovac comes alive with a special energy, and every corner of the city offers a new reason to stay a little longer. Special attention will once again be given to the gastronomic offer, which is every bit as impressive as the music and entertainment programme. Along Karlovac’s promenade and in the Gastro Corner, visitors can enjoy exceptional flavours celebrating both tradition and contemporary cuisine – from creative street food interpretations to traditional specialties, all in one place.

Beer lovers will once again be able to enjoy the World of Beer, a special festival zone dedicated entirely to beer culture. Visitors will discover a wide selection of domestic and international beer brands, opportunities to explore different beer styles and flavours, brands available exclusively in Croatia only at the World of Beer, and fascinating stories from the world of brewing. Karlovac Beer Days are a place where beer is celebrated not merely as a drink, but as an essential part of the identity of a city whose brewing tradition spans more than 170 years.

One of the festival’s key features will once again be its accessibility. Free transport and a special festival train service on the Zagreb–Karlovac–Zagreb route will be available, allowing visitors to enjoy the programme carefree and return home safely. In addition, half a litre of draught Karlovačko beer will be available throughout the festival at the price of just €2.50.

Karlovac Beer Days are also the perfect opportunity to explore the city itself. Between concerts and festival events, visitors can discover Dubovac Old Town, the Nikola Tesla Experience Center, Aquatika – Croatia’s unique freshwater aquarium, the Homeland War Museum at Turanj, refresh themselves at Foginovo Beach, or simply stroll along the historic Radićeva Street and find out why Karlovac is proudly known as the City of Encounters.
