Draganić is situated along the road that connects Karlovac and Zagreb, known as the Old Road. It’s a road favored by those who aren’t in a hurry—by those who enjoy traveling and admiring the picturesque surroundings. And Draganić is picturesque in every sense, from its traditional architecture to its folk costumes. You just need to occasionally turn off the Old Road and drive through the rolling hills of Draganić. And be sure to climb the pyramid. Yes, the Draganić Pyramid.

Draganić is not called "the noble municipality of Draganić" without reason. It’s mentioned as early as the 13th century, when the charter of the Croatian-Hungarian King Béla IV was issued to the heroic warriors of Draganić. The noble municipality of Draganić has always developed freely, without the ownership of nobles and their castles. Even today, you won’t find traces of manor houses or serf settlements here—this was free territory of free people.

The road that has passed through here for centuries was once the main trade route from Zagreb, through Karlovac, to Senj. People lived off their hardworking hands, farming the land, and over the years, they developed exceptional cultural values and traditions, which are still proudly preserved today. The famous Karlovac explorer Mirko Seljan once owned land here, spending time in peace after returning from Ethiopia, while preparing for his expedition to South America.

Today in Draganić, you can wander for days from one hill to another, enjoying the diversity of authentic wooden houses, the autumn scents of vineyards, and the views from either the pyramid or St. George’s Hill. The Pyramid is a hill in the shape of a pyramid above Draganić, which you can reach by bike, and from the top, you get a view of the Pokuplje Basin. St. George’s Hill lies across from the Pyramid, and on the way between the two hills, you must see the old wooden church of the Holy Trinity from 1689, adorned with frescoes. Due to its exceptional value, it has been designated a cultural monument.

If you prefer lowlands over hills, take the educational and historical path through Draganić’s lowland forest, enjoy the fishponds and marshland birds, learn about acorn-fed pigs or the "kabanica" (a traditional raincoat made from bark), and if you’re patient, you might even spot a beaver and discover its traditional building techniques along waterways.
